Formed in the early 80s, Warlock ruled the German Hard Rock scene for almost a decade. Inspired by bands like Scorpions, Accept and Judas Priest, they turned into one of the few successful female-fronted metal bands. Doro Pesch quickly became the band’s spokesperson and on August
16, 1986 she was the first woman to front a band at the legendary Monsters Of Rock festival at Castle Donington in England, sharing the bill with such big names as Motorhead, Ozzy Osbourne and Def Leppard.

True As Steel is Warlock’s third album (1986) and became their highest charting record in Germany. The band made their very first music video, for the single “Fight For Rock” and thus gained rotation on MTV. US radio stations also picked up on the single. However, towards the end of that decade, Doro was the only remaining original member. On top of that, the band’s former manager claimed the rights to the band’s name and merchandise, thus forcing the singer to continue under her own name.
