It’s astonishing to realize that DragonForce now have a history going back 15 years. But such is the pace at which music and life move these days that what was seemingly a highly promising young British metal band just yesterday are now an established full force on the scene. In fact, their reputation is such that anything new from this lot is regarded as a landmark moment in the ongoing story of metal. Formed in 1999 and based in London, the band is very well known for its long and fast guitar solos, fantasy-based lyrics and electronic sounds in their music to add to their retro video game-influenced sound. Guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman are the last two remaining original members of the band. Their debut album “Valley Of The Damned” was released in 2003, the follow up “Sonic Firestorm” in 2004 and their most successful album to date “Inhuman Rampage” incl. the song “Through The Fire And Flames” which was featured in Guitar Hero III, Guitar Hero: Smash Hits and Brutal Legend and as downloadable content for Rock Band. The album sold over 1 million copies in the US and over 200.000 copies in the UK. Album #4 “Ultra Beatdown” followed in 2008. In 2014, Dragonforce completed their sixth studio album entitled “Maximum Overload”. The opus, produced by Jens Bogren, is a revelation and swept fans and critics alike off their feet. Charting in the Top 50 all over Europe (with an impressive number 20 in Germany), the album was praised as the band’s masterpiece, a towering momentum.

Three years after their worldwide success of “Maximum Overload”, DragonForce now release their seventh studio album “Reaching Into Infinity”. Recorded in Sweden with producer Jens Bogren the band went in and out of studios during their world tour, utilizing Lamerluser Studios (London, UK), Dark Lane Studios (Witney, UK), as well as the bands own Evil1 Studios in Charleville-Mézières (France) and Shredforce One Studios (California, USA). For their new album, DragonForce have opened up their sound like never before, capturing the fierce, forlorn and fun with both menace and melody. It is also the first album to feature Gee Anzalone who has laid down an insanely impressive performance to provide the perfect backbone on the DragonForce sound which of course still boasts the bands trademark crazy-fast solos, courtesy of guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman. Musically speaking, ‘Reaching Into Infinity’ continues where DragonForce left off with ‘Maximum Overload’, the band’s faster material becoming even faster still, while the melodic parts head even further in that particular direction.
