2012 marks 20 years of Thrill Jockey. The label continues celebrating by offering this deluxe vinyl edition of Trans Am’s classic double album ‘Red Line’.

2000: Trans Am’s fifth studio album ‘Red Line’ is released. Out of print on vinyl for nearly a decade, Thrill Jockey are happy to finally offer it again. This 2012 edition was remastered to vinyl by Roger Seibel at SAE Mastering and pressed on high quality virgin vinyl.

The double LP is packaged in a deluxe old-style tip-on gatefold jacket fully replicating the original artwork and includes a download coupon for the first time.

Trans Am’s fifth album, with twenty-one tracks spanning over seventy-three minutes, features lush vocals, massive horns, tight electronic jams, guest musicians, acoustic guitar, soaring keyboards, in-yourface mixing, and occasional sitar. It is a mammoth recording that documents the band’s mastery of both rock and electronic compositions and captures the true essence of Trans Am.

‘Red Line’ was the first of the band’s releases to utilize ‘clean’ vocals. Effected vocals exist on some tracks and the infamous vocoder has not disappeared, but for the first time Trans Am ventured into the realm of ‘normal’ singing. The venture was successful – tracks such as ‘Play In The Summer’, ‘Slow Response’ and ‘I’m Coming Down’ show a side of the band that few knew existed.
