The band time spent writing in 2014— James Shaw at his studio in Toronto, delving into the CS80 synth and Emily Haines with acoustic instruments in Nicaragua and Spain—and the work yielded an unprecedented amount of material that revealed itself across at least two major musical veins.

Realizing they had composed enough music for two very different albums, they decided to let each collection of songs stand on their own. More details on the second release will be announced shortly.

Metric will continue their current arena tour with Imagine Dragons and the band has newly announced UK and European dates for October called Pagans Across The Pond.

Pagans in Vegas will be the first of two albums from Metric, with the second album expected in 2016.

This 2 LP version is on coloured vinyl and is exclusive to indie stores only.

“(Emily Haines) can convey a world of torment with the phrasing of a single word. It’s the kind of voice that’s equally effective in vaguely melancholy club bangers and crushingly melancholy chamber-pop ballads. Metric’s newest material rests squarely in the former camp, and even goes so far as to throw open a window and let a glimmer of hope shine in”. – NPR Music

“Not only does the synth-driven track (The Shade) pick up where the dreamy soundscapes of 2012’s Synthetica left off, it’s also seasonally appropriate, as the normally cryptic frontwoman Emily Haines sings with unusual frankness about falling in love under the stars and holding hands by the moonlit sea.” – TIME

“The band’s first new song (The Shade) since 2012’s Synthetica finds singer Emily Haines listing her life’s demands over glossy synthesizers and massive drums.” – Rolling Stone

“On “The Shade,” though, Metric return with fervour to their synth-heavy, polished pop sound.” – Exclaim
