It wasn’t until 1969 that Jimi Hendrix made his debut on American television. The first song he recorded was Hear My Train A Comin’, where he was backed by the Bobby Rosengarden Band. Drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox joined Hendrix at a second transmission along with Juma Sultan on congas, when they cut versions of Izabella and Machine Gun.
