Thomas Bartlett, also known as Doveman, is a Grammy and Academy Award nominated American pianist, producer, and singer. He has worked with a range of notable artists, including Yoko Ono, St. Vincent, Norah Jones, and many others. After his critically acclaimed debut for Modern Recordings, Shelter, Bartlett has recorded a solo piano jazz record titled Standards Vol. 1 featuring American classics like “My Funny Valentine”, “Tenderly” and recent single, “Skylark”. The new record is aptly titled “Standards Vol.1” and will be released with a limited vinyl run on December 8, 2023.

This album is a surprise. You look at the track-list and you will think: I know all the songs. Sure. But when you start to listening to them you will be surprised: these American Standards have never been performed the way Thomas Bartlett does it. It feels almost like half speed and super minimalized. The effect is enormous: the feel of each song is very intimate, very reduced, very down to the bone of each composition.
