2012 marks 20 years of Thrill Jockey. The label will be celebrating by repressing and reissuing many classic titles on vinyl. First up are two classic Trans Am and Tortoise titles, both of which have been unavailable for years.

2001: Following the massive success of their 1998 album ‘TNT’, Tortoise delivered their fourth album ‘Standards’. In and out of print over the past decade, the label are happy to finally give everyone what they have been asking for – ‘Standards’ on vinyl again, pressed on high quality virgin vinyl with the original heavy duty artworked inner sleeve and custom silk-screened PVC outer bag. This repress also includes a free download coupon.

The tunes on ‘Standards’ are direct and immediate, yet they maintain the exploratory edge that has always characterized the group’s output. The fusion of instrumental sounds (electric, acoustic, and synthesized) is subtle and subversive. Similarly, the group’s fluency within the studio environment gives the finished work a quality that alternates between artifice and reality.
