Born Ruffians announced the third and final LP of their multi-album continuum, PULP. PULP follows the bold ‘n’ brassy JUICE, released April 2020, and the spiky, psych-y SQUEEZE, out last October. All three albums are released on the band’s own label Wavy Hazy Records in Canada and Yep Roc Records (ROW). And for a band that feels a three-album release is better than one it’s no surprise that, to celebrate the announcement of PULP, they are releasing not one but two singles- the double A-side “Heat Wave” and “Husha”. Both tracks are available now on all music services.

Speaking on the monumental feat of releasing three albums over 12 months, Luke Lalonde says, “We didn’t set out to write a trilogy. We just wrote a lot of songs that we liked and it seemed a shame to bury any of them. So, early on in our recording process we looked at this great big list of all the songs and said “let’s break this up into three records: JUICE, SQUEEZE and PULP.”

PULP is the band’s eighth LP since guitarist/vocalist Luke Lalonde, bassist Mitch DeRosier and drummer Steve Hamelin emerged as a fully formed trio of rock ‘n’ roll oddballs from a high school in Midland, Ontario, 16 years ago. It would be short selling it to call PULP a collection of B-sides and rarities. Rather, it is a group of songs who have been patiently waiting their turn. “Heat Wave” is a head bobbing, slow-burn banger that just needed a little more gestation time, while “Husha” has been kicking around YouTube and various hard drives, a bootleg of sorts, for nearly ten years.
