Released for the first time on vinyl, Perry Blake’s critically acclaimed, self- titled debut album from 1998 is presented with three stunning bonus tracks – ‘Killing Time’, ‘Ulysses’ and ‘The Sorrow of Spring’.

‘Perry Blake’ is a deep and complex album full of dark melancholic masterpieces – a swirl of deep, emotional and haunting vocals that gained him an abundance of 5-star reviews across the UK and Europe.

His first two singles from this album, ‘The Hunchback of San Francisco’ and ‘Genevieve (The Pilot of Your Thighs)’, were Jo Whiley Singles Of The Week on BBC Radio 1 in the UK.

This special edition release comes on coloured (one disc red, one disc gold) double vinyl, with unseen photos and updated sleeve notes from Perry. Also includes a copy of the album on CD.

Sligo-born singer songwriter Perry Blake is one of music’s great untapped resources. After his debut album, Blake moved to France, where he was met with critical acclaim for his next four albums, touring Europe with Carla Bruni and writing two songs for Francoise Hardy’s Platinum selling album, ‘Tant de belles choses’, appearing on various TV shows in France as her special guest.

“Blake’s glimpses of people living a state of mind is one of those great escapes it’s very hard to get away from. His gift here is to take a subdued, grown-up collection of songs but make them sound like they deserve daytime radio.” – MOJO (*****)

“A rich evolving sound- scape that cocoons Blake’s variety of almost surrealist lyrics. The limits of the Downtempo rulebook are broadly stretched with a weaving instrumentation that dips and wanders.” – Tom Robinson, BBC6 Music

“Heavily reminiscent of the Portishead, Massive Attack open study of the musical possibilities within a stagnant dynamic, combined with elements of ‘Introspective’-era Pet Shop Boys.” – The Goo Review

“The Last of The Great Songwriters […] One of music’s great untapped resources and still on top of his game” – Guy Garvey, BBC6 Music

“An unsettling, almost ‘Orwellian’ feel and along the way we can luxuriate in Perry Blake’s generous, comforting voice – spotting traces of Nick Drake, trip-hop and Gary Numan” – Hot Press

“Blake sounds like a cross between Bowie and Michael Nyman – only better” – Uncut

“Further solidifying his signature downtempo and melancholy brand of ambient and cinematic pop” – Radio Nova
