Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, the album showcases beguiling original compositions from all members of the trio and also delivers a unique take on Luiz Bonfa/Antonio Maria’s famous ‘Manha de Carnaval’, the theme from the 1956 feature film ‘Black Orpheus’. The ‘Guitar Trio’ album reached #1 on the US Billboard Jazz Chart in October 1996. Despite its success, rumour has it that relations between the performers were strained during the recording and world tour which followed – there were even reports that De Lucia and Di Meola came to blows after a concert at London’s Royal Festival Hall in October 1996.
