Celebrating 20 years since the release of their incredible soundtrack to the experimental Soviet documentary film, ‘Man With A Movie Camera’, The Cinematic Orchestra reissue the album for the first time on 140g colour vinyl, in ashen and pewter grey. In a deluxe foil embossed and debossed gatefold sleeve, the album features updated artwork and new liner notes. With black paper inners, the album also contains previously unseen session photography, presented on a 12” double sided art card insert, with digital download included. The Cinematic Orchestra, formed by J Swinscoe and later joined by long-time friend and collaborator Dominic Smith, are one of the UK’s most respected and influential British artists of the last twenty years, creating genre-defying compositions that introduced jazz to a new breed of electronic music fans. As part of the film festival celebrations for Porto European City of Culture 2001, The Cinematic Orchestra were commissioned to score a soundtrack to a silent movie as a one-off performance. The film was Dziga Vertov’s ‘Man With A Movie Camera’, a 1929 film from the Soviet Union, and hailed by many, including The BFI, to be one of the greatest films of all time. The performance took place in the historic Coliseu Porto and ended with a standing ovation from the 3,500 strong audience.
