4/5 lead review in Q magazine :”Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson hired New York’s retro-soul/funksters for back to black, but their day job is swinging righteously behind veteran southern belle Sharon Jones. Their fifth album together since 2002 maintains an astounding standard comparable even to that of original legends like Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding”

“Unadulterated soul. Long may Queen Sharon reign” 4* The Observer
“Superior retro sounds…. so compelling” 8/10 Uncut

PRIORITY RELEASE.

Sharon Jones is unstoppable. With four albums and a run of singles that have sold over half a million copies, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings continue to headline festivals and sell out shows across the globe

The band have created their strongest record yet. From the relentless stomping entrance of Retreat!, the bounce of the anthemic We Get Along, and the irresistible syncopations of Stranger to My Happiness, straight through to the intoxicating groove of Slow Down, Love. It is also arguably the most impressive studio work to date from Grammy-winning engineer and Daptone co-owner Gabriel Roth (aka Bosco Mann) all written and recorded at Daptone’s analogue “House Of Soul” studio/headquarters in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn where Sharon herself wired the electrical outlets.

Sharon and the Dap-Kings have been welcomed with open arms on British soil. 2005’s Naturally appeared in end-of-year best-of lists from MOJO to The Times, whilst 2007’s 100 Days, 100 Nights and 2010’s I Learned The Hard Way lead to appearances on BBC2’s Later… with Jools Holland. In the U.S. Sharon has appeared on shows with Jimmy Fallon, David Letterman, and Jay Leno, whilst sharing stage and studio with Prince, Lou Reed, Michael Bublé, and The Roots among many others. Next year Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings will be able to add Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese to their list of collaborators as the band appear in Scorsese’s latest film The Wolf Of Wall Street, due for release in January 2014.
