Alela Diane has become a Diverse favourite over the last few years, with her varied first two albums “The Pirate’s Gospel” and “To Be Still” taking in elements of both US folk and classic country songwriting.
For her new album Alela has worked, for the first time, with her husband as songwriting partner, a positive move, allowing Alela to spend time fleshing out melodies and lyrics over someone else’s chord progressions rather than starting completely from scratch each time. This has led to a fully, more complete set of songs. Her backing band is something of a family affair including her father and a new rhythm section of Jonas Haskins & Jason Merculief alongside husband Tom Menig.
