After the runaway success of Toto IV, Bobby Kimball left Toto as lead singer and frontman and was replaced by Joe Perry-esque vocalist Fergie Frederiksen, who only managed to survive the 1984 album Isolation. For many fans the Gold-certified effort is one of Toto’s heaviest albums, together with Kingdom of Desire, and finds the group drawing on influences like David Foster and Fee Waybill (Tubes) on standouts like the hit single “Stranger in Town” and the Journey reminiscent title cut.
