Now released on heavyweight gatefold numbered (ltd 300) vinyl.

Licorice Soul Records\’ second volume of reissues is another great selection of rare funky gems and cult recordings. \’Working Man\’s Soul 2\’
celebrates the forgotten world of cabaret performers from the 1960s and 1970s, and selects the cream of the funky club cuts unearthed from
records only previously available on privately-pressed albums.

Manufactured by the artists themselves in miniscule quantities, these records were sold only at live performances at Social Clubs, Miners Welfare Clubs and Working Mens Clubs across the UK Their common theme is a strong groove designed to keep a busy dance floor moving – music performed down the Social to celebrate the end of the working week.

Highlights include Russ Abbot\’s first cabaret band, Ron Dixon from \’Brookside\’ on a Barry White love-fest, jazz-fusion from Martin Hannett\’s sideman, and amongst the jazzy-soul Beatles, Stevie Wonder and disco covers, there are also unlikely funky versions of tracks by The Doobie Bros, Uriah Heep and Deep Purple… !
