2014 was an interesting year for Young Fathers, winning the Mercury Prize and playing around 130 shows from Paris to Sydney.

Subsequently, the band’s new album, ‘White Men Are Black Men Too’, found itself being recorded in a hotel room in Illinois, a rehearsal room in Melbourne, a freezing cellar in Berlin, a photographic studio in London and their normal hole in the ground basement in Edinburgh. It was easy – it’s always easy. You can hear the smiling.

Young Fathers performed in front of 1500 people on the Concourse stage at this year’s BBC 6Music Festival. The performance and interview with Mary Anne Hobbs and Steve Lamacq was broadcast live on 6Music and filmed for their online channels.

A live tour supporting the album kicked off in February, covering South Africa, Europe, North America and the UK, wrapping up in June in Edinburgh.

Recommended if you like Massive Attack, Tricky, TV On The Radio, Kate Tempest, Andre 3000.
