‘The Meyerowitz Stories’ collector’s edition vinyl.

The first solo piano score by multiple Grammy, Emmy and Academy Award winner Randy Newman (‘The Natural’, ‘Toy Story’).

The veteran film composer did something completely different for ‘The Meyerowitz Stories’: Newman crafted a score utilizing only the piano. “After I saw the movie I wrote and recorded a little piece so that Noah [Baumbach, writer / director] could hear something that I thought might work for the picture,” Newman described. “He liked it and he decided that solo piano would be an effective way to score his picture.”

‘The Meyerowitz Stories’ is the emotional and comic intergenerational tale of adult siblings (Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and Elizabeth Marvel) contending with the long shadow their strong-willed father (Dustin Hoffman) has cast over their lives. With an original screenplay by Baumbach, the film also stars Emma Thompson, Grace Van Patten, Adam Driver, Candice Bergen, Judd Hirsch and Rebecca Miller. The film was produced by Scott Rudin, Baumbach, Lila Yacoub and Eli Bush.

“I enjoyed working with Noah. In many ways it was the closest to collaboration I’ve ever had with a director and I liked it,” said Newman.
