The album titled Shovels & Rope was originally released in 2008 as a collaboration by two then-solo artists, Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent. After a few years of touring together as “Cary Ann Hearst & Michael Trent,” the two decided to adopt the name of their album Shovels & Rope as the official band name.

The band’s first album under the Shovels & Rope moniker, O’ Be Joyful, was released in 2012 to much critical acclaim, rounding out 2013 as the musical guest on The Late Show with David Letterman, festival slots (Coachella, Lollapalooza and Newport Folk Fest, to name a few) and upcoming appearances on PBS’ Austin City Limits and NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts.

Offered on vinyl for the first time, this release is being put out on 180 gram premium vinyl and includes a copy of the album on CD inside!

Features live staples (and fan favorites) “Boxcar,” “Gasoline” and “Hollowpoint Blues.”
