Recorded at Mondial Sound studio in Milan, Italy on 24-25 July 1990, and originally released on the Italian avant-garde jazz label, Black Saint, this is one of Sun Ra’s great final recordings. Here an inspired Arkestra featuring Michael Ray, Ahmed Abdullah, Tyrone Hill, Marshall Allen, and John Gilmore, perform 13 tracks including ten original Ra and three standard compositions. Ra’s keyboard playing is also showcased more here than on many other recordings…almost as if he knew that this would be one of his last chances to get into a studio. Ra was taken back to his home planet of Saturn two years later, at the age of 79.
