1987 was a big year for Los Lobos and the huge blockbuster movie La Bamba directed by Luis Valdez and based on the life and times of the late great Richie Valens. La Bamba’s massive success also yielded the accompanying No. 1 original motion picture soundtrack which was home to some of the biggest songs of the year with Los Lobos’s timeless title track “La Bamba” as well as seven additional masterworks from the Chicano roots rock ‘n’ roll group like “Come On Lets Go,” “Framed” and the torch ballad Richie Valens was so well remembered for, “Donna.” Superstars like Brian Setzer (“Summertime Blues”), Bo Diddley “Who Do You Love” and Marshall Crenshaw (“Crying Waiting Hoping”) also stop by, making for as strong a soundtrack as they come. Limited edition 180g vinyl reissue from Friday Music, mastered by Joe Reagoso.
