After 10 years, 6 albums, and over 1,000 shows with Dropsonic, Dan Dixon decided it was time to re-invent the wheel he’d been spinning for so long. Though Dropsonic had done too many tours to count and had toured or played with bands ranging from The Strokes, Garbage, Archers of Loaf, And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, and whole host of others, it was all feeling decidedly… uninspiring. Keeping with the PLS PLS aesthetic of making 80’s inspired droning synth pop while only using live instruments, Jet Black was recorded more as band album where everyone contributed parts and ideas giving the record more depth and influences.
