After almost exactly two years and more than 300 concerts worldwide, the band “HONIG” releases it’s new album “It’s Not A Hummingbird, It’s Your Father’s Ghost” on the 22 August 2014 across Europe, through Haldern Pop Recordings/Rough Trade. There have been a lot of changes since the release of their previous album “Empty Orchestra”. From a loose group of musician friends, the band has turned into a solid five-piece line up, bursting with contagious energy.”It’s Not A Hummingbird, It’s Your Father’s Ghost” is not a typical songwriter album. The result is a complex and sophisticated achievement, forceful and sensitive at the same time.

„I’m in love with this band and I actually think its one of the best albums I have worked on in years. It is just completely stuffed and packed with great energy, attitude and catchy melodies. The voice of Mr. Honig himself is just amazing!! … a big part of why I just had to work on this album.“ – Addi 800, Room 313 Studios (Björk, Sigur Rós)

HONIG have flourished, and by combining clever arrangements with sticky melodies create a sound that works. Now they play folk-pop for the bigger stages, and fear neither grandiosity nor sensitivity. The album begins delicately in the well-known HONIG style. But already the second song demonstrates the transformation of the band. The complexity of the arrangements distinguishes itself through an expansive guitar sound, accentuated by a variety of intonated ideas and melodies. A Rhodes is often heard swirling in the background, violins and cellos suddenly appear, and from nowhere a flugelhorn plays over the band. The 11 songs are crowned by the voice of one of the most charismatic and expressive singers on the scene day.

“In the last couple of years I toured at lot. It’s where a lot of these songs began. I was reminded of the trips I took with my family when I was younger and some of the songs and the album title are directly refeering to these memories. Being on tour and travelling are definetly places where some of the lyrics come from.” – Stefan Honig

The band recorded the album at the “Zeitstrahl-Studio” in the beautiful Lower-Rhine area. It was mixed by Addi 800 in the Room 313 Studios in Reykjavik, and mastered by Mandy Parnell (Black Saloon Studios) in London.
