Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li (AKA Li Lykke Timotej Svensson Zachrisson) has unveiled details of her highly-anticipated third studio album entitled I Never Learn. The follow up to 2011’s critically-acclaimed Wounded Rhymes will be available on May 5th through LL Recordings/ Atlantic Records.

Co-produced by long-time collaborator Björn Yttling, Greg Kurstin and for the first time by Lykke herself, I Never Learn is the third and final part in a trilogy. Taking inspiration from her LA surroundings where much of the record was recorded, Lykke commented, ‘Every song on the album is a power ballad. Like one of those old radio stations. This is a slow dance; a slow burner.’ With song titles like ‘Never Gonna Love Again’, ‘Sleeping Alone’ and ‘Heart of Steel’, I Never Learn was inspired by a recent heartbreak and Lykke’s songwriting is all the more devastating for it. One of the lead tracks ‘No Rest For The Wicked” is key to the whole album. “I wrote it in Sweden when I was packing up my shit, and I’d just gotten out of a relationship and it was a horrible time. I just had the hurt, shame, sadness, guilt, longing. In the verse, I’m referring to myself pleading guilty but I’m referring to all of us.” Lykke announced her new album to fans last week via a beautiful video piece, soundtracked by the brand new song ‘I Never Learn’. Today Pitchfork premiered another video for new track ‘Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone’.

Following her appearance at the recent inaugural BBC 6Music Festival in Manchester, UK and European tour details have been unveiled. Kicking off on April 24th in Stockholm, Lykke will play Brussels, Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Utrecht, Paris and conclude with 2 dates at Village Underground in London. Tickets are available to purchase here.

It’s hard to believe that it was only 6 years ago that Lykke’s pop confessional Youth Novels catapulted her into the limelight. Her debut established her as one of those rare gems: an authentic artist, who deals only in raw emotional truth. The album topped every end of year list and allowed her to travel the globe showcasing her stripped down, percussive and frenetic live show to rapturous applause.

2011’s Wounded Rhymes cemented her position as a mainstay in the musical landscape. With its unique mix of 60s girl group vocals, tribal drums fills and a new, more self-assured and powerful vocal performance from Lykke herself, her follow-up secured her more accolades (Swedish Grammy Awards for Best Artist and Best Album), high profile TV appearances (Late Night with David Letterman, Later…with Jools Holland, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno) and cover features (Spin, Fader, Notion)

And last summer, she became an official chart-topper with The Magician remix of ‘I Follow Rivers’ going number 1 across Europe and eventually selling over 1.2 million units worldwide. She also featured on ‘I’m Waiting Here’ from David Lynch’s 2013 album The Big Dream.
