Everybody’s Welcome is an incredibly apt title for the third album from Anna’s Anchor. Throughout, it really does feel like we’re all being welcomed in to Limerick-based Marty Ryan’s brain; the record feels deeply personal all the way through and this is what makes it a good album. It’s possible to overlook some moments where the music lacks variation or seems to be not quite fully formed, because for each of these there’s a moment of heartbreaking honesty that’s too emotional to fault. The writing process took place over Christmas, Ryan spending ten days alone in a cottage in Cork, before being recorded in a similar setting. The locations make perfect sense given the songs’ unfiltered vulnerability.
