The Allman Brothers Band – Almost The eighties Vol.2. Between August 1975 and May 1976, the Allman Brothers Band played to some of the biggest crowds of their career. Gradually, however, the members of the band grew apart during these tours, with sound checks and rehearsals apparently becoming a thing of the past. The shows were considered lacklustre and the members were excessive in their drug use. As a result, the band finally broke up. In 1978 moves were afoot to reunite the band, augmented by new guitarist Dan Toler and bassist David Goldflies, to record the much celebrated Enlightened Rogues album, and return to touring. The album was released in February and the recording featured here with the new line-up came on the night before New Year’s Eve of the same year – for the record, fact fans, on the actual NYE, the band were performing in New Haven, Connecticut. The new line up is captured here in superb revitalised form, at the Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, NY on the 30th December 1979, a show broadcast live by WLIR-FM, and presented here complete across 2 instalments.
