New to the hallowed LP racks of Diverse Vinyl are 4 new releases from Friday Music. First up is Joel. Times two.
An Innocent Man
As another definitive installment in the Billy Joel 180-gram audiophile series, Friday Music is very excited to announce the release of his 1983 classic An Innocent Man. Mastered from the original Columbia Records tapes by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray at Friday Music and AcousTech and pressed at RTI, this album was perfectly recorded for the audiophile in all of us. His masterwork included a ton of No. 1 singles like "Uptown Girl," "Tell Her About It" and "Leave A Tender Moment Alone." For this limited edition release, a rare one-of-a-kind gatefold cover is included along with the lyrics and photos from the original release.
Storm Front
Storm Front is easily the best of Billy Joel's later albums. Upon reaching the early stages of middle age, Joel became more than just a pop songwriter. By focusing his entire life's experiences into his compositions, Joel could write with much greater depth and impact than a decade previous. Of course, this is most evident in the hit "We Didn't Start The Fire," a sort of musical history lesson that encompasses all the major events from the fifties up until this afternoon. But there is much more experience in this record that Joel approaches from several points of view.
I'm now going to go back in time to to the year I was born...
Jeff Beck - Wired
Powerful jazz-rock fusion with a touch of funk, WIRED is Beck's follow-up to the popular BLOW BY BLOW. Extending on the blues breakthroughs he made with the Yardbirds, Beck's style had by this time crystallised into something lyric and soaring, showing the influence of John McLaughlin and The Mahavishnu Orchestra, while retaining the slightly manic edge that has remained his trademark.
And now a shift forward two years to a release that's been out a month or so but is worth mentioning nonetheless...
Gerry Rafferty - City To City
What can we say? Probably one of the finest audiophile rock recordings of all time makes its appearance for the first time on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl: Gerry Rafferty's classic City To City. Featuring the haunting and huge smash hit Baker Street, as well his other hit singles like Right Down The Line, City To City and Home And Dry.
Mastered from the original United Artists/Capitol Records tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios in Huntington Beach, CA and at Capitol Mastering in Hollywood, CA with Ron McMaster, this legendary album will be one of the most anticipated audiophile releases of the season. Complete with the original art elements and a 5-star mastered LP as you would expect from Friday Music.
