I'd image that there are some of you out there wondering what to buy on vinyl between Springsteen releases, well here are some suggestions.
First out of the blocks is the new album by The Hold Steady. This is released on the 3rd May and is apparently more guitar heavy than piano heavy this time around. A lot of you will know the band and be aware of their similarities to Springsteen in both their music and lyrics. If not, check them out here - http://www.myspace.com/theholdsteady
If you've ever bought a Hold Steady album at a hi fi show then you've almost certainly had me thrust a Gaslight Anthem LP at you. Another great rock 'n' roll band from New Jersey wearing their hearts on their sleeves. Their new album hits the UK on June 14th. Slightly more punky but well worth checking out - http://www.myspace.com/thegaslightanthem
Last but not least is a band you might not be aware of. Lucero hail from Memphis and have been on the road playing their brand of gruff country punk for 13 years. Last year saw them release 1372 Overton Avenue, their first release on a major label, this is now available as a US import. Their sound has evolved over the years and this album has a horn section as well as piano and pedal steel guitar. Amazing band and one all Boss fans should give a listen - http://www.myspace.com/lucero
